Baxter presenta la nuova collezione indoor 2024.

La parte più importante del progetto di costruzione di un catalogo di prodotti è quella meno comunicata, ma quando funziona si fa notare. La direzione creativa dell’ultima collezione Indoor di Baxter conferma la maturità di un impianto metodologico che è stato affinato nel tempo per creare oggetti esteticamente ineccepibili, che convivono all’interno di ambienti stilisticamente coerenti, e che mantengono sempre alta la tensione dinamica tra le diverse creatività dei designer.

La collezione Baxter Indoor 2024 è un universo complesso di rimandi e citazioni dei maestri del design e dell’architettura, che certamente rievocano epoche del passato, ma che di queste conservano i valori concettuali e stilistici ancora attuali. Con un carattere decisamente seventies, i nuovi pezzi del designer altoatesino Hannes Peer, nuovo entrato nella famiglia Baxter, danno un imprinting mondano e sofisticato alla collezione Indoor di quest’anno.

Il divano modulare AURA è ispirato ai conversation pit dell’epoca e secondo il designer “riecheggia lo splendore delle ville a Los Angeles di John Lautner: dalla Sheats–Goldstein Residence alla Garcia House”. È formato da una base in alluminio lucido oppure in laccato rabarbaro - un colore guida per le cromie 2024 di Baxter – su cui si appoggiano ampi cuscini strutturati.

La seduta PILLOW è un volume imbottito sostenuto da un’impalcatura metallica high tech che si rifà all’architettura del Centre Pompidou di Piano e Rogers. Secondo Peer “i quattro lembi imbottiti si aprono con grazia, come i petali sbocciati di un fiore e invocano la risonanza visiva che si trova nelle sculture iconiche di Henry Moore”.

Progettata come un’architettura a ritmo parametrico, la base del tavolo LOOM con il piano in vetrofusione, lavorato con una tecnica che restituisce delle superfici imperfette, “rende omaggio alla fusione di materiale, forma e funzione, caratteristica del design brasiliano del dopoguerra, raggiungendo una perfezione estetica. Allo stesso tempo, trae ispirazione dall'arte cinetica americana, approfondendo la percezione visiva e il movimento per catturare l'immaginazione dell'osservatore.”

Ispirati alla conformazione di un arcipelago, i tavoli bassi AEGATES disegnati da Baxter P, l’ufficio stile della maison, sono dei solidi smussati laccati lucidi da accostare ai coffee table in radica di pioppo naturale.

Roberto Lazzeroni introduce due nuove sedute con una sezione delle gambe importante. STIG è un progetto ironico: “me la immagino rivestita in orsetto, all’interno di uno spazio danese, con fuori la neve, davanti a un caminetto acceso, oppure rivestita in pelle nel colore coloniale e le gambe color caffè, all’interno di un riad di Marrakech”, mentre per OLAF “l’ispirazione arriva da Jean Royere e dalla ingenua ironia dei suoi mobili, sono gli anni ’50/’60 del secolo scorso”. Viene naturale accostarle al tavolo da pranzo ISAMU, sempre di Lazzeroni, presentato con nuove finiture in pietra.

Sempre utilizzando la pietra, Christophe Delcourt progetta la famiglia di tavoli bassi e console LANA - dove le lame della base si incastrano con il top in una composizione geometrica di ispirazione costruttivista - e ampia la gamma del divano componibile JULIETTE con nuovi moduli arrotondati.

Dopo le sedute SO FAR e SO GOOD, già in catalogo, Studiopepe lavora in continuità aggiungendo la collezione SO SOFT - composta da letto, dormeuse e pouf - dove le forme morbide e avvolgenti delle imbottiture sono trattenute come un abbraccio dalla struttura in metallo cromato lucido oppure in metallo brunito spazzolato a mano. La sedia da pranzo SO FAR, con telaio cantilever in tubolare di ispirazione Bauhaus, propone una scocca imbottita in pelle con un comfort contemporaneo.

Dopo il divano componibile bestseller Miami Soft, Paola Navone integra la versione lineare MIAMI BEACH e progetta la poltrona ORTIGIA, che è ampia come una dormeuse e impreziosita da una finitura capitonné a motivo libero.

Con WEEKEND Federico Peri lavora sulla tipologia del servomuto, costruendo un oggetto multifunzionale che è sia specchio a figura intera che piccolo armadio/svuota tasche: un arredo intelligente valorizzato dalle eleganti finiture in pelle Baxter, ideale sia per la casa che per un hotel di lusso. Stessa vocazione per gli ampi specchi FLUID che sono preziosi per la forma delicatamente organica e le finiture della cornice in pelle cioccolato e al contempo funzionano da formidabili amplificatori dello spazio.

Proseguendo la sua riflessione sul progetto polifunzionale, Federico Peri presenta BLEND: un contenitore ideato in differenti misure che si presenta come volume rivestito in pelle integrato da una libreria a giorno in metallo dove “le mensole all’interno lo rendono idoneo a funzionare come armadio, così come mobile bar”.

Completano la gamma dei contenitori il mobile HIVE di Pietro Russo - ispirato agli alveari per la complessità formale e alle Wunderkammer per il gioco di specchi – e la libreria in lamiera di acciaio inox DUNE di Draga & Aurel, che prende ispirazione dal pop anni 70 per approdare a un universo glamour e lussuoso.

Baxter presents the new 2024 indoor collection

The most important part of a product catalogue project is the least communicated, but when it works, it really gets noticed. The creative direction of Baxter’s latest Indoor collection confirms the maturity of a methodological framework that has been honed over time to create aesthetically impeccable objects that coexist within stylistically coherent environments, and that always maintain a dynamic tension between the diverse creativity of the designers.

The Baxter 2024 Indoor collection is a complex universe of cross-references and quotations from the masters of design and architecture, which certainly evoke eras of the past, but which retain the conceptual and stylistic values of those times that are still relevant today.

With a distinctly Seventies character, the new pieces by South Tyrolean designer Hannes Peer, a new addition to the Baxter family, give this year's Indoor collection a worldly and sophisticated imprint.

The modular AURA sofa is inspired by the conversation pits of that decade and, according to the designer, “echoes the splendour of John Lautner’s Los Angeles mansions: from the Sheats-Goldstein Residence to the Garcia House”. It consists of a polished aluminium or rhubarb lacquered base - a guiding colour for Baxter’s 2024 colours - on which large, structured cushions rest.

The PILLOW seat is an upholstered volume supported by a high-tech metal scaffolding that harks back to the architecture of Piano and Rogers’ Centre Pompidou. According to Peer, “the four padded flaps open gracefully, like the blossoming petals of a flower, and invoke the visual resonance found in Henry Moore’s iconic sculptures”.

Designed as a parametrically rhythmic architecture, the base of the LOOM table, with its fused glass top, machined with a technique that yields imperfect surfaces, “pays homage to the fusion of material, form and function, characteristic of post-war Brazilian design, achieving aesthetic perfection. At the same time, it draws inspiration from American kinetic art, delving into visual perception and movement to capture the imagination of the viewer”.

Inspired by the conformation of an archipelago, the AEGATES low tables designed by Baxter P, the maison’s style office, are polished lacquered bevelled solids to match the coffee tables in natural poplar burl.

Roberto Lazzeroni introduces two new chairs with a large leg section. STIG is an ironic project: “I imagine it upholstered in teddy bear plush, inside a Danish space, with snow outside, in front of a blazing fireplace, or upholstered in leather in the colonial colour and coffee-coloured legs, inside a riad in Marrakech”, while for OLAF “the inspiration comes from Jean Royere and the ingenuous irony of his furniture, dating from the 1950s/60s”. It is natural to combine them with the ISAMU dining table, also by Lazzeroni, presented with new stone finishes.

Again using stone, Christophe Delcourt designed the LANA family of low tables and consoles - where the blades of the base interlock with the top in a constructivist-inspired geometric composition - and extended the range of the JULIETTE modular sofa with new rounded modules.

After the SO FAR and SO GOOD seats, already in the catalogue, Studiopepe works in continuity by adding the SO SOFT collection - consisting of a bed, dormeuse and pouf - where the soft, enveloping shapes of the upholstery are held like an embrace by the polished chrome or hand-brushed burnished metal frame. The SO FAR dining chair, with its Bauhaus-inspired tubular cantilever frame, offers a leather upholstered shell with contemporary comfort.

After the bestselling modular sofa Miami Soft, Paola Navone integrates the linear version MIAMI BEACH and designs the ORTIGIA armchair, which is as wide as a dormeuse and embellished with a free-pattern capitonné finish.

With WEEKEND, Federico Peri works on the valet stand typology, constructing a multifunctional object that is both a full-length mirror and a small wardrobe/pocket emptier: an intelligent piece of furniture enhanced by elegant Baxter leather finishes, ideal both for the home and for a luxury hotel. The same vocation applies to the large FLUID mirrors, which are precious for their delicately organic shape and frame finished in chocolate-coloured leather, while at the same time functioning as formidable amplifiers of space.

Continuing his reflection on the multifunctional project, Federico Peri presents BLEND: a storage unit designed in different sizes that presents itself as a leather-covered volume integrated by an open bookcase in metal, where “the shelves within it make it suitable to function as a wardrobe, as well as a bar cabinet”.

Completing the range of storage units is the HIVE cabinet by Pietro Russo - inspired by beehives for its formal complexity and by the antique Wunderkammers for its game of mirrors - and the DUNE bookcase in stainless steel sheet by Draga & Aurel, which takes its inspiration from 1970s pop art to arrive at a glamorous and luxurious universe.
